When I first brought Cinder home my personal goal was to put an obedience title on her and get her WC. Cinder was always a retrieving FOOL, so it seemed simple enough. But I could not get her interested in even looking at a real bird. She would give me that "you want me to pick that up - IN MY MOUTH??" look ever time. Once she even tried to wrap a dead duck back up in the newspaper it was wrapped up in and bury it in the dirt in the yard.

I don't know what finally got into her but in the spring of 2005 she saw what fun I was having with Gryphon doing retrieves with a semi-frozen duck, she was YIPPING with enthusiasm. So we gave it a try and behold she did it!!

Not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES!

"Hold It"

We took our chances in Sept 2005 at a Working Certificate test. She behaved like she had been doing this all her life!
Very steady and had no problems finding the bird (I was worried because her eyes are failing her and she would not see it drop). She trotted right out and got the bird and brought it right back.
I was so proud.

Our water retrieves.
